Moving to any new area, whether that is the E5 area or the M3 area, is going to be a stressful and painstaking task to complete, with so many things to consider, too many things to do in a short space of time and so much riding on you getting everything right, it’s no wonder so many house moves go horribly wrong and end up causing a lot of stress and costing a lot of money.

There are, of course, things that you can do to try to help to house move to the E5 area go as smoothly as possible:

Planning is essential, and there are a lot of things that you need to plan. The main thing you should consider ahead of time are things like booking an E5 removal company or hiring a van, collecting the keys for your new property, arranging with the utility provider for your account to be moved address, setting up a postal re-direction service etc. There also some other things that you can plan and think ahead of schedule on. For example, if you get blueprints of your new home, you can start to decide where everything is going to go, so that when you unpack things can be placed directly into the right room and in the right area, leaving you less to move later. When you are packing up your belongings, pack things together that are being placed together in your new home, and make sure that you correctly label the boxes so that you know what is inside of them but also which room they belong in. Plan a route for your moving day, from your old home and to your new home, and also plan a secondary route in case there is traffic or some problem on the roads.

One of the biggest disasters that can go wrong when moving house is losing important documentation and/or documents you need on moving day, you can prevent this from happening. All you need to do is buy a plastic box and place in it everything that is ‘valuable’ to you, for example birth and wedding certificates, passports, insurance documents, pension policy documents…the list goes on but by now you should have an idea as to what you should include in this box. On removal day, make sure this box stays with you at all times, and when it is not with you make sure it is locked away somewhere safe.

Children and pets are one of the biggest concerns when we move home, when they are around so much more can go wrong. If you have family or friends that can look after your children and pets for the day then this is probably the best idea, if you do not then there are some things that you can do to help minimise the damage your children and pets can cause. When it comes to your pets, keep them locked up safely in a room (with water and food) while you are loading the E5 removal van with boxes, when you are ready to move the animals, place them in their carriers and ensure they are secured in the removal van. In your new home lock the animals away in a secure room, open their carriers and allow them to come out and explore their new home when they are ready. With children, pack them a bag that they can keep with them on removal day. Include drinks, snacks, entertainment, toys, warmer/waterproof clothing and anything that makes your child feel safe. Empty your child’s room last, and make sure it is the first room you unpack in your new home.
